The Black Hole
In the exposition of the story, it sets the scene as a dull, grey environment. This then brings in the development of the story, when the camera starts to focus on the main character. We see a man who works in the office, photocopying work and nobody was with him. You feel sorry for him, because he had a gloomy, bored-stiff expression on his face, showing the audience that he was maybe tired of his employment, probably wasn't getting paid enough or maybe he gave up on his hopes and dreams. Then, the photocopier comes out with a black hole on an A4 sheet of paper, which left the man in total confusion. As he started to see the black hole do wondrous magic, it suddenly came to the thought of him testing the black hole for himself. Now, this is where we then start to realize what kind of a man he was inside, when he starts to use the black hole to his advantage, into getting things without being caught. In the resolution of the film, we then have a plot twist, because in the beginning of the scene, we felt sorry for him because of his expression and how he was feeling. Suddenly, he then starts acting all greedy, into thinking that he could use the black hole, to get the money from the safe. He stuck the black hole onto the safe, so that he could take the money out. He kept taking all the money out until there was absolutely nothing left, then this is where the audio in the office starts to kick in. The audio leads us to show how the sound in the office becomes more of a drone sound to create tension, as the camera focuses on the main character about the way he's behaving. As the narrative starts to get disrupted, the man starts to crawl inside the the black hole, into getting the money from inside. Now the man doesn't get a happy ending, because as he crawled inside, he then pays the price for it. The black hole fell off the safe, and it shows the audience that the black hole no longer accepts him. He thought that he could get away of stealing, but instead he got nothing in return. He let his greed get in the way. To conclude this narrative structure of the black hole, this then shows the audience that he got what he deserved in the end.
Band Of Brothers!
The exposition of this story begins with a soldier, who is the main character, coming home on a train from a raging war. As he was on the train, he then starts to recall flashbacks by looking at other people, which makes the filter change from a sephur into a 'black and white'. This is to understand the audience, so that they won't get confused throughout the film, like which one is the flashback and which one is the actual film. This is what we call a 'non linear' narrative. They have included flashbacks in the story to make the audience think, "Why are the characters in a gloomy state", which shows how the memories are already affecting him.
Also, when the soldier looks at one of his friends, it suddenly gave him a close-up of the boy he killed, and then adds sound effects of the gunshots and the flashes which triggered him terribly. As for the audio in the scene, as the main character starts to see visions of what he had during the war, the music went into complete silence. This is to show the audience that the main character was in his own trance, meaning he was focusing on the attention of the murder he committed at war.
