1) What kind of type face?

The type face for these film posters "The Woman In The Window" and "Beautiful Creatures" are called sans serif fonts.

2) How do you know?

Serif fonts have feet at the bottom of each letter, and Sans serif fonts haven't, and it's clear for people to read.

The title I have chosen is 'Beyond The Shadows'. To make this title, I used a sans serif font called 'slightly eroded' because the font creates that atmosphere around you and the boldness of the font gives the audience attention to it. I have used 'red and black' for the colours of the title, because I think it makes it stand out in a horror film, since the colour 'red' represents 'blood and death'. The colour 'black' shows 'darkness'. It shows the audience the main part of the film and what makes it so significant.

Photoshop Film Poster Journey

For my film poster, I have decided to use this image. At first, I was going to use the haunted house picture, so I can get a better idea and understanding, but I changed the idea to a person walking into the mist of fog, since I didn't wanna spend a lot of time.

For the first step of my journey, I wanted to picture my poster as a greyish, musky setting. So in order for me to do this, I have used 'the filters' and 'brightness and contrast' so I can make my poster a bit brighter for people to see clearly and a little bit of boldness to make it a bit darker to set the horror mood.

Now you can see that I have used the brightness and contrast.

For the second step of making my film poster, I've used the filters again, but this time I used 'colour balance'. It means that you can change the colour of the background. So for the colour balance, I have used a reddish brown colour. I've also decided to use 'the dodge and burn tool' to make the bushes darker, as if the darkness was trying to stop the person from escaping.

Now that I have used the filters and edited the background to the way I want it to look, I now add the text. What I did was use the 'text tool', and changed the font to make the title look more extreme so it can please the audience. The fonts I have used is called a 'sans serif' which is what I used for the main title and 'serif' which is what I used for the tag line underneath.

Now for the final step of the film poster.

As you can see, I got rid of the title which was duplicated at the back, because it would have been a bit too much. I have also moved the tag line to the middle, by using the 'move tool' so it won't look uneven. For the final touch, by clicking the 'paint brush tool', changing the paint brush colour to 'red' and changing the style, I painted blood on both sides of the poster to make it look more realistic.

What I could have done to improve if I had to do it again?

What I could have done to improve is add more trees to the background and maybe lighten up the pathway by adding more brightness to it.
